A Beginner’s Guide to Airsoft
-
Wear Protective Gear
This is the most critical safety measure. Always wear high-quality, ANSI-rated goggles or a full-face mask to protect your eyes and face from BBs. Airsoft BBs can travel at high speeds and cause serious injury if they hit your eyes.
-
Wear Protective Gear
While eye protection is a must, it’s also smart to wear other gear like gloves, knee pads, elbow pads, and long sleeves to protect yourself from scrapes, bruises, and BB impacts. Consider body armor or a tactical vest for added protection.
-
Respect the FPS Limits
Every field has limits for how powerful the airsoft guns can be, measured by FPS (Feet Per Second). Make sure your gun complies with the field's rules to avoid unnecessary injuries.
-
Always Keep the Barrel Covered When Not in Use
When you're not actively playing, always keep your gun’s barrel covered with a barrel sock or safety cover. This prevents accidental shots and keeps everyone safe off the field.
-
Don't Remove Your Safety Gear Until You’re in Safe Areas
Never remove your safety gear (especially goggles or face protection) while you're in the play area or in a non-safe zone. BBs can fly in unexpected directions, and it’s always better to be safe.
-
Treat Your Gun Like It’s Always Loaded
Even though airsoft guns are not real firearms, always treat them with the same respect. Keep your finger off the trigger until you’re ready to shoot and never aim at anyone without clear intent to engage.
-
Know and Follow Field Rules
Every airsoft field has its own set of rules and guidelines. Follow them carefully, as they are there to ensure safety and fair play.
-
Be Aware of the Surroundings
Stay alert and be mindful of your environment. Be aware of other players, potential hazards, and always check your surroundings before firing to avoid accidents.
-
Play with Integrity and Honesty
Airsoft is a sport based on honesty — when you’re hit, call yourself out. This maintains safety and fair play, ensuring everyone has a good time.
-
Hydrate and Rest
Airsoft can be physically demanding, especially if you’re running around a lot. Drink plenty of water, take breaks, and listen to your body to avoid exhaustion or heat-related issues.
These tips will help you stay safe and enjoy the game while minimizing the risk of injury!
